Full Name: “T” Elliott
Title: Rooftop GM
Sun Sign: Sagittarius

Meet T Elliott, our General Manager for the super hoppin’ Rooftop at The Standard Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. T keeps the good vibes flowing whether it’s chill times mid-week or a weekend mid-rager. Here’s a few more things you might not know about T…
First off, tell us a bit about your background, and what you do at the Standard?
We’ll, it’s been a long ride for me, and I’m a very late bloomer. I’m definitely influenced by “T-Rex, Love, and Rock n’ Roll” (that’s code for something, lol). I remember the first Led Zeppelin album I listened to was their second one. I lived in Alaska, and was in the fourth grade. Must have been the winter of 1969. I remember “Whole Lotta Love” playing while my best buddy’s older sister (she was in the seventh grade) was teaching me how to French kiss. Some memory, huh?! That’s the only bit of my background that you get.
As far as what I do at the Standard Downtown, well, I’d like to say that I’m the conductor of the groove line, and I’m here to show a good time to anyone who decides to get on board. I mean, after all, it’s why we’re in business, to be the curators of a good time. I’m here to make sure that happens, along with some technical stuff that I’m sure you won’t want to hear about.
What’s your favorite secret spot Downtown, LA?
It’s got to be a tossup between King Eddy’s or bar 107, both in downtown LA. I can’t say they’re very secret, but they’re definitely a spot. Anytime I’m feeling down about myself, I’ll cruise into King Eddy’s, always makes me feel better. Bar 107 only between the hours of 4 and 5pm, and just for a can of Olympia…
What is one of your most memorable moments in the building?
There’s been so many of them, some that I’ll take to the grave with me, but one that I can talk about would have to be during our opening, back in 2002, when we did the pajama party. The rooms we’re filled with friends and family, and pajama’s. Pajama’s fit pretty loosely. I’ll let you fill in the blanks on that one…
What was the last song you downloaded?
“Lord of the Thighs”, look that one up…
What is your favorite movie based in a hotel?
I’d have to say Sid & Nancy. The scenes in the Chelsea were classic, reminds me of a tame night in my apartment…
What are you most excited about for 2011?
The Summer time!!!!
