The Standard, The Fold, & KCRW are super duper happy to present: New Year’s Eve at The Standard Hollywood with performances poolside by The Raveonettes and Autolux and a Purple Lounge party hosted by the kids of School Night.
The Raveonettes, are pretty much the best neo 60’s surf band ever to come out of Denmark. Here’s what the BBC had to say about them: “Back when ginger beards were all the rage and the term ‘Viking’ didn’t make people think of insurance, Denmark was a pretty aggressive and unruly place to be. Now, in the age of the European Union and the thong, The Raveonettes are helping to cement the kingdom’s reputation as a harmonic and sensual place by preaching in stripped-down harmonies and echoed, undiluted guitar bytes.” Not to be upstaged, Autolux are local kids that made good with a dream pop sound that constantly keeps you guessing. Autolux has a great following, Trent Reznor, Thom Yorke, PJ Harvey, the Coen Brothers and Flaming Lips have all publicly sung their praises.
The Purple Lounge will fall under the rule of School Night with DJ’s Valida and Chris Douridas plus special guest the indisputably great Bad Lupo Grande. School Night is guaranteed not to disappoint and they have the paperwork to prove it, they were awarded a 2010 Paper Magazine nightlife award for “America’s Best Party”!
LA Weekly listed The Standard, Hollywood New Year’s Eve as this year’s #1 party in Los Angeles and quip that, “This show is going to be insane”.
Hells yeah, all this and champagne jello shots, too!
