SEVEN's Solution to "Art Fair Exhaustion"

Nov 29 2011

Here’s another interesting gathering to attend if you’re visiting Miami’s Art Basel this week. SEVEN is a pioneering collaborative project organized by seven established New York and London-based galleries (Postmasters, P.P.O.W., Ronald Feldman Fine Arts, Pierogi Gallery, BravinLee programs, Hales Gallery and Winkleman Gallery), who came together in response to “art fair exhaustion” to create a new model for showing and selling art, on their own terms, in Miami during Art Basel.

In a new location this year for its second installment, SEVEN is the only space in Miami featuring an integrated exhibition format where galleries and artists are commingled. Emboldened by the growing sentiment that there are too many big art fairs and their own frustration with the personality-free, corporate authority and scale imposed by such organizations, the founders of these seven galleries have created (within a 15,000 square foot warehouse space large enough to house 50-plus fair booths) a more intimate venue for viewing and acquiring contemporary art.

Entry to SEVEN is free and it will be open from 11am to 7pm, November 30th through December 4th. SEVEN’s new location is 2637 N. Miami Ave in Wynwood. Updates and other information can be found at Seven-Miami.com or their Twitter.
