Suck it TriBeCa. Screenings at The LES Film Festival are BYOB (of course they are) and will be held at Sunshine Cinema, Crosby Street Hotel, and Grand Opening, an interactive storefront in the Lower East Side. LES* 2012 will focus again on creating an unparalleled combination of remarkable low-budget filmmaking with the youthful and bold spirit of the Lower East Side. Now through Sunday.
Via Flavorpill: “Kick off your WMC adventures this weekend with Kitsuné — which means “fox” in Japanese, but is also the name of the influential, Paris-based electronic music and fashion label (dropping releases by Cut Copy, Hot Chip, Boys Noize, and many more). Along with local tastemakers Nightdrive, they’ve put together quite a show at Bardot, with British/Spanish act Crystal Fighters headlining. The group mixes acoustic and traditional Basque instruments (such as the xylophone-esque txalaparta) with euphoric electro pop, and their live shows sometimes border on performance art. Support from labelmates Computer Magic and Gigamesh.”
