Still not convinced? Well, read this lovely interview with Michal, enthusiastic member of The Standard Spa.

Tell us something about yourself personally and what you do… and how you ended up living in Miami? By night, I adore spending time with my little family, and occasionally exploring the many luxuries of living in Miami Beach. By day, I work as a Project Director for our family-owned Real Estate Development and Construction firm.

We have recently reached 500 members in our club, which means in additional to our hotel guests, we have a nice family of locals too… How would you describe the locals who frequent Standard and the vibe of the other member, if you happen to know them? Locals who share in the love of sun, water, and some serious R&R are definitely members! I like to refer to The Standard as my little hedonistic haven, with a local family of fun-loving professionals, intellectuals, and creatives alike whom possess a finely curated taste for all things good in life.

Would you say you spend most of your time in the Pool? or the Hamam? or the Gym? Oh definitely even portions between the Pool and Hamam, and lets just say a slightly ‘skinnier’ portion on the Gym. I have a whole routine: gym for 30 minutes, pool for cardio/laps and finally some relaxation under the hot waterfall. Of course, I never finish without a final steam and stretching in the Hamam. Naturally, if it’s a weekend, skip all of the above and find me in a lounge chair sipping my glass of rosé.

Have you taken on any “out of box” fitness training since becoming a member? Paddleboarding! But next time I won’t order that pitcher of Lido Lemonade first! Whew- what a work out!

In terms of mental well-being, healing, and general peace of mind… how would you rate your evolution in this area since becoming a member? Incomparable evolution. I always brag that my overall quality of life has been so dramatically increased since I have worked my Standard experience into a regular routine.

In terms of food – can you tell us your favorite dish that you love ordering off our menu? It’s never too early for an aperitif, I always order a glass of rosé with a side of hummus & pita chips. The Acai Bowl is my signature breakfast, and you can not pass up one of Boris’s famous empanadas. Do you know it took me 2+ months of membership before I truly believed Boris, the amazing bartender, could be responsible for these heavenly little creations?

We have lots of different employees but is there one trainer or just staffer that you’d like to give a shout-out to? Someone who is a friendly face that always takes good care of ya? Vanessa and Marcello poolside. Vanessa because she has the most genuine character- she always takes the best care of me and let’s me blab her poor little ear off on all things happening in my life. Come to think of it, I probably owe her one for all the ‘free therapy.’ Marcello Ibanez has evolved into one heck of an artist. Starting with the chalkboards and expanding to t-shirts and even lightboxes. I am excited to say that he’s used me in a few of his pieces, and I am soon to be a proud new owner of one of his very first lightbox creations.

What are your top 3 favorite places in Miami? – places where you can relax, unfold, and take in the beautiful view? Between the Hamam, Pool and Mud Lounge you mean? Hands down, The Standard is my top for numbers 1, 2, and 3!
