Watch Artist 'A Common Name' Fold 5,000 Pieces of Origami

L.A. artist and graphic designer A Common Name (aka: Paige Smith) has been delighting Angelenos with her latest series of street-art installations. Entitled the Urban Geode Project, these tiny little 3D paper sculptures are nestled in the holes of buildings and pipes around the crumbling infrastructure of the city. The finished pieces—made with paper, glue, and iridescent paint—resemble crystal geodes and instantly bring a little nature into the urban landscape.

We’re pleased to report that A Common Name has just finished installing her latest Urban Geode Project inside The Vitrine at The Standard, Hollywood! Check out this fantastic video shot by Gregory Tuzin showing how much work went into the installation:
