Last chance!! This week marks the very last of The Sister Ruby Band’s month-long residency at The Standard, Hollywood’s Desert Nights! They’ve been performing every Wednesday all month long and we’re so sad to see them go. Definitely make sure you stop by and catch a great band playing for free!

The Sister Ruby Band: The Sister Ruby Band is the psych-rock project of 22 year old Los Angeles based Johnny Ruby. After last year’s self-recorded EP “A Shot In The Dark”, The Sister Ruby Band is set to release their full-length debut album “In Cold Blood”. Featuring appearances from guest musicians such as The Black Market Band and the Sugarplum Fairies, this record oscillates between the gauzy sounds of British shoe gaze and West Coast psychedelia. According to Buzz Bands LA’s Kevin Bronson “Sister Ruby’s woozy wall of sound isn’t too far from the reverb-soaked shimmer of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and, when the guitars are turned down, that trio’s excellent excursion into Americana, “Howl.” The singer himself? Ruminative and world-weary, on two continents.”
Javier Dunn: “Hi. My name is Javier Dunn. I write songs and I play guitar and I sing a little. I record all my own music, and share it with the world. I’ve also been extremely lucky to be the touring guitarist for Grammy-nominated Epic Records artist Sara Bareilles for several years. I’ve been able to travel the world with my best friends, play music for a living, and have fun. I’m a very, very lucky man. this sounds more like a eulogy than a bio. oh well! thanks for listening…”
Broken Anchor: As a solo singer-songwriter, Austin Hartley-Leonard carved out a nice niche in soulful Americana, releasing an album and an EP, getting a slew of TV placements and earning a spot as a Hotel Cafe favorite. His new guise as Broken Anchor takes his melodically rich songwriting into the realm of atmospheric indie-pop, and if his first batch of songs, “Broken Anchor Vol. 1,” is any indication, it’s fertile ground. Working informally in the Echo Park home studio of producer Brad Gordon, Hartley-Leonard parlays warm atmospherics and a dusting of reverb into songs that have a hazy, retro feel. The recordings were made with assists from percussionists
