Friday 8.17: Jacques Greene Gets Rinsed!

Aug 07 2012

Friday August 17, Le Bain joins forces with Rinsed to welcome Montreal rising star Jacques Greene. Daniel Wender, one of the three masterminds behind the Rinsed parties, gives us the full (and wet) inside story.

  1. By Daniel Wender:
  2. Rinsed was started by Blacky II and myself in a dirty little loft in Williamsburg in 2010. The original plan was to start a party we could DJ at that wouldn’t suck, we played back to back for six hours straight for the first year. Not too long after we started A.Pop came onto the scene and completed the Rinsed ménage à trois. She started putting in these bizarre installations that kind of created this vibe that became what Rinsed was all about. She would hang sex dolls on the walls and put LEDs in their, you know, she would hang blood spattered umbrellas from the ceilings and fog the place out. When you entered the party (after first going through a sketchy stairwell) and walked into this room, it was such a unique experience but unlike a lot of other arty loft parties this was very focused on playing very cutting edge dance music.

We started bringing in guest performers, just friends of ours in the scene, the first ever rinsed performers were Beacon who are blowing up right now. We teamed up with MeanRed for the Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival and were able to curate a room with Girl Unit, Kingdom, Nguzunguzu, and that’s when Rinsed evolved into it’s current state. The past year we’ve had some great guests, Braille, Sibian & Faun, MikeQ, Saheer Umar, ITAL, and a few weeks ago we had a sailboat party with MJ Cole.

Doing Rinsed at Le Bain is a bit of a fantasy realized for us just because it embodies a lot of our key themes. We always try to make Rinsed as affordable as possible, so the fact that we can do a scaled up version with amazing guests for free is pretty amazing. Also the element of water has been huge for Rinsed, our logo is a drawing of a girl showering and Ana has installed showers for impromptu crowd rinsings in the past. It’ll be nice to have people actually rinsing themselves in the hot tubs and showers. As a DJ I can’t pretend I don’t love the sound at Le Bain so that definitely doesn’t hurt.

Jacques Green Another Girl

As far as the lineup, Jacques Greene is one of the most inventive producers out right now. He was on the forefront of chopping rnb samples and making sexy and accessible bass music and he keeps evolving, creating often imitated music ahead of the curve. His new EP 3024 is his best yet and he’s being recognized worldwide for it, having just come off a tour opening for the XX. We are psyched to have him at this special version of RINSED. Krystal Klear is also making major waves in the UK right now creating revamped new jack swing as well as undeniable house music, he doesn’t get to play here as much as he should and were very happy to have him on board. We couldn’t be more thrilled with the lineup for this show.

Friday August 17, Le Bain presents Rinsed featuring Jacques Green and Krystal Klear. Doors open 11pm.
