In conjunction with SPiN Galactic, New York’s world renowned ping pong club, we at The Standard Hotels are opening the SPiN LA Ping Pong Club at The Standard, Downtown LA late in the Fall of 2012!

Occupying the entire mezzanine level of the Downtown LA property, the new club will feature state of the art sporting facilities showcasing a court for professional matches, sleek new tables for the rest of us and of course, the “standard” nightlife facilities. And because I love the internet – mostly for Googling myself – we’ve built an online home at SPiN Social to allow ping pong purveyors to connect to each other across the globe and beyond!

In anticipation of this autumnal opening, we’ve been on a national tour, finding the best players in Standard cities for a showdown of epic proportions. We started with a New York tournament on the rooftop of Le Bain, where teams like The Whitney, Tumblr, MILK Studios and Vimeo faced off in a battle of ball slamming madness. Then we headed to Miami during Swim Week to see what the bikini clad babes from The Daily and The Webster could bring to the table…literally.

Now we have Los Angeles in our sight, and we’re taking no prisoners. I suggest that you polish your paddles and that you reinforce your balls because the SPiN LA Ping Pong Club is going to be your next obsession.
