The Wellspring: Talia and Dov met in New York in 2009 when Dov, then lead singer/songwriter of local band ‘Fools For April’, met with Talia, then VP at a film production company, about placing his music in their films. Talia fell in love with Dov’s music, and Dov discovered that Talia had sung in a band for years prior to her career in film. Months later, mutual fans of each other, the two decided to take a stab at writing together. Talia sent Dov a torrent of poems. It was these poems that sparked him to write music fervently into the wee hours of morning. It was this music that would inspire her to sing again. Together, they discovered a wellspring of music. Talia quit her job and the pair spent all their free time writing and recording together in Dov’s home studio. Their music, which has been called “a mixture of The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, indie rock, and a touch of country,” has taken off.
King Washington: Saturated in complex vocal harmonies and intelligent chord progressions, the music of King Washington is a throwback to when rock ‘n’ roll was a songwriter’s game. Combining the vocal styles and songwriting ethos of classic writers of yore, with the angst and adventure of growing up in 1990’s Los Angeles, King Washington’s music lives amongst the precious realm of fully unexpected yet somehow familiar rock n’ roll.
”In an ideal world, King Washington would be topping the pop charts with The Gears. Highly melodic and intellectual without isolating the listener… This quartet have far more to offer than their musical ancestors; the members of King Washington are scholars in the arts.” - 7 Bit Arcade
“[King Washington’s new album], The Gears, is something special. Retro, sure, but retaining an almost timeless appeal. This is a fine, fine record indeed.” - RealGoneRocks.com
Maesa: Maesa hails from Beachwood Canyon. Her songs are much like the spirits that reside there … haunting, dream-like stories written with striking truthfulness and sung with a dusty soulfulness which will slay your heart. When she gets with her band she not only woos but rocks too. Get ready.
