When the worst storm in history decides to come to town, it of course decides to choose New York City as one of her destinations of choice. As you know, Hurricane Sandy paid a visit last week, and in her wake, left a stream of destruction all across the eastern seaboard.
The Standard, High Line and The Standard, East Village were affected by Sandy’s fury, but fortunately, we were able to come out of it fairly unscathed. We are very saddened to say that this was not the case for everybody.
In an effort to help our fellow New Yorkers and those others affected in the neighboring areas, we have organized ourselves company wide to lend a helping hand, and need your support…
Effective immediately, all of our Standard hotels in New York, Miami and Los Angeles, as well as Chateau Marmont and The Mercer, will be aiding the Robin Hood Foundation with a donation matching program: any guest who stays with us can contribute $2 or more per stay, for every contribution made, we will match that amount 100%.
If you’re not staying at the hotels, you can still help. All of our restaurants, bars and clubs are also working with The American Red Cross. With every check, you will have the opportunity to donate directly to the foundation in any amount of your choosing.
The Standard Hotels aren’t everywhere … yet, so if you want to help out in other ways, below is a list of organizations that you can reach out to and get involved.
-The American Red Cross is offering shelter, clothing, supplies, food and blood to Hurricane Sandy victims. To make a direct donation, text REDCROSS to 90999 or call 800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
